Guess Who’s Back?

Yes that’s right, it’s Tucker! D and I have secretly named him ‘Little Terror Tucker’ to match nicely with our ‘Little Miss Lunatic.’ Catchy don’t you think? Tucker will be staying with us over the weekend, so I’m sure there will be more pictures to share with you!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Wonderful Weekend in Stowe

Before the hustle and bustle starts this week, D and I were fortunate enough to attend a family wedding in Stowe, Vermont. The timing of our mini vacation couldn’t have been better, as first thing tomorrow morning a moving crew will be banging on our door ready to pack up all of our belongings. This will be my second major move across the states; I don’t know about you, but packing and moving stresses me out a bit. So, we were more than happy to spend our second-to-last weekend indulging in fine wine and amazing foods rather than being mired in our chaotic abode.
The food - oh, the food. Here’s a sample of what we ate: Truffled Mushroom Risotto with Mascarpone and Poached Egg, Venison Loin with Cranberry Demi Glace (one of D’s favorites) with Roast Pears and Smoky Brussel Sprouts. And that was all on the second night… I won’t even get into the Georges Bank Bay Scallop Ceviche!
What an amazing gastronomic experience!

"" Stowe Mountain Lodge

I cannot stress enough how beautiful Vermont is - the scenery and mountains that surrounded Stowe Mountain Lodge were wonderful. Apparently our visit coincided with the best weather of the year, and all of the locals were out and about enjoying the fresh mountain air.

Being the ice cream lover that I am, we made a pilgrimage to my personal Mecca, the Ben & Jerry’s Factory. After a brief tour of the factory, we got to sample a new flavor that is not yet in stores, and then had fun posing in front of the famous Ben & Jerry’s ‘Cowmobile.’ Even though it was stationary, D managed to get hit by it…

D and I took advantage of the opportunity to meet up with the brains behind the popular dog blog Life With Dogs. D made a quick phone call (since we were in the area, he said) and before we knew it, we were meeting up with Nigel’s family for lunch and a tour of downtown Burlington. What a delightful time that was to meet a fellow dog blogger, and see another great city!

Apparently on our short trip, Luna did not enjoy the time she spent at her vet’s boarding facility. Normally, Luna LOVES her visits to the vet’s office, but on this particular Labor Day weekend it was a little different. There were over twenty-one dogs being boarded, so Luna was a little reluctant and skittish coming out of her pen for her outside breaks. Still just a big baby, I can understand why this visit probably wasn’t as fun for her as her previous visits. Once home, she ran around the house and released her puppy energy like always.

Feeling content with Fishy at her side.

Luna and the Greyhounds

Saturday afternoon we hopped in the car to make a trip to our local Petsmart. When we pulled up to the store we were pleasantly surprised to see a Greyhound Rescue ‘meet and greet.’ The timing was perfect, as fellow blogger Life With Dogs just posted about their The Greyhound Rescue Initiative. We quickly took care of our errands so we could meet these magnificent creatures and get in a quick photo shoot.

The organization represented was ‘Greyt Expectations Greyhound Rescue’ – and one thing to note is that while Life With Dogs’ list shows Greyt Expectations under Maryland, they also cover Washington D.C. and Virginia (and in our case, SE VA – almost NC). All the dogs there today were previously-adopted ‘greys’ whose owners bring them out to ‘show’ and promote the organization.

All the dogs there were gentle, sweet, and so incredibly soft! This may be shameless of me to write (since we’re really trying to support someone else’s blog with this post), but everyone there - dogs and humans alike – was completely enamored of Luna!
