\"To coat or not to coat?\" That is the question - and why shouldn't you when you can get adorable custom made clothing for your furry friend?
\nI used to feel that no dogs should wear clothing. It just seemed odd to me as they are in fact dogs, and nature did provide them with fur. Plus, I have always grown up with Golden Retrievers - which are double coated, and therefore comfortable virtually every season of the year. Then along came Penny, a long haired 'tween-size' Dachshund, who I believe feels the cold just like I do. Even though Penny's hair is long, it's not thick, nor is it meant to be a substantial insulator against cold. Plus, she always seems to find her peace on the warmth of a lap, under the bed sheets, or curled up cocoon-like in any blanket that might be laying around. I don't think this is always due to her burrowing nature, sometimes I rather suspect it's done for warmth.
\n\nFinding cute, well-made Dachshund clothes can be tricky if you are not a regular purchaser for this particular breed. Coats and sweaters that normally fit other dogs with Penny's circumference - which is 'pet-tite' (husband's wordplay pun here) - don't come in 'extra-long' in regular pet stores, so finding another source (usually online) is a must. I was happy to come across a review of \"The Cozy Hound's\" fleece jacket on http://youdidwhatwithyourweiner.com/. I contacted \"The Cozy Hound\" and before I knew it I was selecting fabrics and sending along measurements.
\nThe jacket we received is super cute and fits Penny perfectly! I couldn't be happier and I'm sure Penny will appreciate the extra 'coating' for our walks.
\n\nDoesn't she look cute?
