Today is my 31st birthday (gasp!) and like I mentioned in a previous post, we all celebrated my birthday last weekend, since D had a short-fused meeting out-of-town and would miss my actual ‘big day’. I couldn't have a more thoughtful husband; once he found out he’d be gone, he very quickly orchestrated an overnight getaway at our favorite hotel in Seattle, a fantastic (and wine-filled) four course dinner downtown, AND he gifted me two (yes that’s right ladies - TWO) purses I had been drooling over. The best part (okay, not really, but humor me…) was that our favorite hotel (a Kimpton boutique) is pet-friendly (all shapes and sizes), and our little Luna was able to accompany us!
When we checked into the hotel the concierge greeted us and asked for Luna's name, proudly announcing that all of the visiting dogs’ names were displayed on the ‘dog chalk board’ in the lobby. We grabbed all of our things and proceeded up to our wonderfully-appointed room, got ‘prettied-up’, settled our pooch princess in her travel crate, and headed back down for a cocktail before dinner. On our way past the front desk we paused at the dog chalk board to scan for our little girl’s name… only to find it missing. We did, however, find a freshly-erased leg with the name LOLA scrawled out! LOLA?!?!? But how? Whaaa? Huh?!?? We each scratched our heads and glanced at one another trying to determine if we were going to say anything to the folks at the front desk. We decided, instead, to grab that cocktail first. I will admit that D came up with the title for this post while sipping a martini in the hotel’s restaurant/bar, and we then mutually decided to let sleeping dogs (or, more precisely – sleeping chalk dogs – lie), and not correct the mistake.

Now please enjoy a few pictures of our evening!
