Thinking of adding a new furry friend into your home? It happens all of the time whether planed or not – say spur of the moment adoption - and a new puppy owner must make certain that safety tips are followed to ensure the pooch will remain healthy and happy in their new environment. It certainly took me some time to figure everything out when I brought Luna into our home five years ago, and things were handled very differently when Penny was added to our family. So here are some links I found helpful in surviving the new puppy days.
- VPI Pet Insurance has Simple Advice for New Dog Owners.
- The Pet Blog Lady has some great Cleaning Tips for a SafePuppy.
- Pet MD has a basic New Puppy Checklist of all the items you will need for the new puppy, however Petsmart’s checklist is twice as long.
- The ASPCA has a very great article on Introducing Your Dogto a New Dog.
- The Dog Channel thinks outside of the box with their PuppySafety from A to Z article.

Very true. Just because you already have dogs doesn't mean you are set up for a puppy!
ReplyDeleteIs that a picture of Luna when she was a pup?! Good LORD she was cute. I'm kicking myself for not getting pet insurance RIGHT AWAY for Rufus. I feel like it's too late now.

Yep, she was a skinny baby!
DeleteOhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh BABY LUNA!!! The best :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute picture of Luna! She must have been so hard to resist as a puppy! Good links too, it's incredible what puppies can get into on their own and how much trouble they can cause for such little bodies. Glad the bitter apple worked for you though, Hazel and Foyle just licked it off.
ReplyDeleteI have a great video of Luna getting angry at the bitter apple - I will see if I can find it.
DeleteOh, Luna is looking so cute. Thanks for sharing those useful links and it is very much true that owners should take all safety measures to keep puppies safe at their home. I will head to check out them
