They say that Golden Retrievers are slow to mature and can retain their silly, playful personalities for many years, while some can even keep their puppyish traits into old age. This must explain why - when looking at the calendar - I was shocked to realize that today is Luna’s fifth birthday!
There are many things to take into account when calculating a dog’s age, such as the breed. However, for this post I am using the now-inaccurate rule-of-thumb and multiplying her age by seven, thus making her thirty-five in “dog years.” Since I will also be turning thirty-five this following year, I am doing Luna a favor by not making a big deal out of it.
I will simply quote Caryn Leschen: “Thirty-five is when you finally get your head together and your body starts falling apart.”
Or how about this: “Middle age is when your age starts to show around your middle.” ~Bob Hope.
Not working for you? How about this: “Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.” ~Chili Davis.
