I am 1/8th Irish, and I don’t just say that because I have fair skin, freckles, and red hair – or because so much of my wardrobe is green. My Great-Great Grandmother (who I am named after) was born in Lisburn, Ireland. She traveled from Liverpool to New York on the R.M.S. Teutonic, and arrived at Ellis Island in 1899. It’s pretty safe to say that everyone on my mother’s side of the family tree is Irish. With last names like Rooney, Walsh, and Banks… how can you not be?
I also really, really, love corned beef and cabbage. In fact, I pulled out all of the necessary ingredients needed from the fridge for the wee Irish feast we will be having for St. Patrick’s Day.
