A while back, I tried to sit down to compose a blog post, but did not get very far due to the tingling sensation in my hands. That was about a month ago. Fast forward to today - the tingling sensation has only gotten worse, which now affects my hands and forearms throughout most of the day. They call it Pregnancy-Induced Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, which is common for lots women during their third trimester.
I am currently 30 weeks into my pregnancy, which means I only have ten more weeks to go. This is a little unnerving knowing that my life will be changing quite drastically… and very soon. Let’s add something else to this change - just a few weeks after I give birth, we will be packing up our belongings and moving to the east coast. Talk about shaking things up a bit, right?
I’ve had certain feelings about saying good-bye to this blog for a while now, and I think it’s time that I address them. How do you know when it is best to move on? How do you know when it is time to call it quits?
The idea of saying goodbye to this blog seems incomprehensible, as I have breathed five years of my life into it. I find that there are no simple step-by-step instructions for knowing when it’s time to move on; surely there are signs, but the most important is probably that small, knowing voice within that says, ‘something isn’t working, and it can’t be fixed.’ The truth is that the spark has died within me to continue this blog, and I think it will be better for me to invest my time on other endeavors/interests.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone back-and-forth on this, how many conversations I’ve had with my husband trying to encourage me not to throw in the towel; regardless, this is the decision I’ve come to, but it’s not all bad! I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in a variety of areas as a result of working on this blog, and most importantly, I’ve had such a fantastic time-sharing my [mostly dog] stories and photography with you, and I have met so many wonderful people who I now call friends.
I also know that many new (and exciting/challenging) beginnings are right in front of me. My handcrafted jewelry is taking off, we will be moving to the bustling DC area, and let’s not forget the most important beginning – our new little baby will soon be with us. It becomes clearer every day that I need to leave something behind in order to take full advantage of the new doors that will be opening before me.
So, let’s just call it what it is – a serious pause and a much-needed break. Both Luna and Penny are staying active on Facebook (follow us there), and I am also blogging on my jewelry site Pretty Shiny Object - but I have no idea when or if I will write another blog post here. Just know that I have had the pleasure of getting to know you and that I am still making the rounds, visiting your blogs and reading your stories.
