From ‘Luna the Domesticated Dog’ to ‘Lola the Downtown Debutante’
Today is my 31st birthday (gasp!) and like I mentioned in a previous post, we all celebrated my birthday last weekend, since D had a short-fused meeting out-of-town and would miss my actual ‘big day’. I couldn't have a more thoughtful husband; once he found out he’d be gone, he very quickly orchestrated an overnight getaway at our favorite hotel in Seattle, a fantastic (and wine-filled) four course dinner downtown, AND he gifted me two (yes that’s right ladies - TWO) purses I had been drooling over. The best part (okay, not really, but humor me…) was that our favorite hotel (a Kimpton boutique) is pet-friendly (all shapes and sizes), and our little Luna was able to accompany us!
When we checked into the hotel the concierge greeted us and asked for Luna's name, proudly announcing that all of the visiting dogs’ names were displayed on the ‘dog chalk board’ in the lobby. We grabbed all of our things and proceeded up to our wonderfully-appointed room, got ‘prettied-up’, settled our pooch princess in her travel crate, and headed back down for a cocktail before dinner. On our way past the front desk we paused at the dog chalk board to scan for our little girl’s name… only to find it missing. We did, however, find a freshly-erased leg with the name LOLA scrawled out! LOLA?!?!? But how? Whaaa? Huh?!?? We each scratched our heads and glanced at one another trying to determine if we were going to say anything to the folks at the front desk. We decided, instead, to grab that cocktail first. I will admit that D came up with the title for this post while sipping a martini in the hotel’s restaurant/bar, and we then mutually decided to let sleeping dogs (or, more precisely – sleeping chalk dogs – lie), and not correct the mistake.
Now please enjoy a few pictures of our evening!

Luna’s Weekend Plans
It appears that Luna has weekend plans. Actually, in lieu of celebrating my birthday at the end of the month (the time where D will be traveling) we will be spending this weekend at the lovely Hotel where we got married. Talk about a nice birthday celebration! Luna is especially excited as she gets to spend the day with us walking in downtown Seattle. I wonder if Anthropology or Banana Republic will let her do some ‘window shopping’, or better yet, I wonder if I can find her a cute pair of walking shoes at the big, beautiful downtown Nordstrom. Probably not.

Something Out Of Place
I know there is something wrong with these pictures, but I just can’t quite put my finger on it.
Is it the fact that it was around ten thirty in the morning when these pictures were taken and my bed was not made? Hmm…no, that’s not it…
…or maybe it’s that dirty, stinky fish that’s laying on my bed…nah…
Oh, I’ve got it! It’s that my dog thinks that just because my husband isn’t lying on his pillow, she can!

My Broken Dog
I think my parents broke my dog. No seriously, I really think they broke my dog! I mean look at her, she is not smiling at all and looks seriously depressed. She is probably thinking to herself, “why, oh why did Jim and Janet leave me?” Well my sweet little girl, they had to go eventually. But don’t worry, Grandma Janet will be back in April to visit you!

Parents Visit
This visit with my parents (although short and sweet) was nice and relaxing. We did the usual out to dinner, shopping at the mall, a few hair cuts here and there and of course some cuddling with Luna. I find it absolutely funny to watch Luna hoist herself on top of my parents once they have seated themselves on a chair. She just makes herself at home and of course, my parents don’t mind.
