Counting Down the Days

If you were to ask me how it feels to be lady of leisure (especially since my last day at work was two weeks ago) I would have to say that life is anything but leisurely, especially since it's that time again; time for us to pack our up our home and move to our next location.  Movers are due here in just a little over a week, and I am keeping busy with decisions to make and arrangements to seen follow through.  Moving is never easy, and I'm not sure if anyone (especially being a Military family) ever gets used to it.  My mother-in-law does a good job in reminding me to just be patient with myself and with D, and if we keep the communication open, it will all be fine.  It will be hard to leave my home again (beautiful Seattle) but Carmel, CA looks like it's going to be a very beautiful place to call home.

Adventure Weiner Dog Walk

D here...

After being away for most of the last 14 months, I'm lucky the dogs still recognize me. Well, 'lucky' is a relative term; accompanying their recognition is an expectation that I'll make good on all the time I haven't spent with them - so obviously I've got my hands full!

Elizabeth got caught up with work, so I got to be the surrogate weiner walker for this weekend's lap of Greenlake.  This was my first time around Greenlake (being a Washington 'transplant'), and it was a very pleasant experience.  Though there was a nice thick overcast, it didn't rain during the walk itself, which I'm sure all the dogs (and owners) appreciated.

I found it very entertaining meeting dozens of doxies and their owners, though I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't feeling very social - and neither, apparently, was Penny, who repeatedly looked (and jumped) up at me as if to say, \"do I really have to play with the other dogs?\"  In light of our mutual desire for solitude, as well as Penny's sled-dog-pulling tendencies, we spent most of the 'walk' jogging to the head of the pack, then pausing to let others catch up, chat, and then launching off again to the front.

Penny did wonderfully, and it was very nice to 'bond' with her one-on-one for a bit. Thanks to Jessica for organizing the event, it was a pleasure meeting all of the people and pups, and I particularly appreciate the very cute photos that some of you were kind enough to take of us in those few moments when we weren't moving off at Penny-speed!

The Adventureweiner™ Club walk around greenlake

The Adventureweiner™ Club (where adventurous weiner dogs come to have fun and their parents come to exercise with their dogs, make new friends and have a good time) had another monthly walk around Greenlake on Sunday. Everyone in the greater Seattle area woke up to frost on the ground this morning; however that didn’t stop anyone from making their appearance at the lake.

Lot’s of new weiner friends were made today…

…and the scenery around the lake was beautiful!

Penny was happy to be apart of the group today…

…especially when making the acquaintance of two pretty blonde girls.

This little guy was a newcomer and just shy of five months old.  I don’t think he was any bigger than eight or nine inches long!

Just like last time, everyone got a kick of Penny’s amazing Swiffer-like tail at work.  This girl sure knows how to clean up!

If you own a Dachshund and live in the Seattle area, then make sure to check out this fun group!  http://www.meetup.com/Adventureweiner-Club-of-Seattle/
